Scrap Idol - Week 4

I have sad news for you all today, I didn't make it through this week.

But...

I'm okay with that.

The challenge this week was that our LO could not have any sharp corners. It's a lot harder than it sounds. Especially for someone like me, I don't really care for rounded edges but hey... that was the challenge.

This isn't my favorite LO I've ever done. There are parts of it I like, the tearing in the PP to show the CS behind, I like that. The paper itself was a little funky (by Prima Marketing) and very distressed already. I also think it would have worked a little better if the pic was vertical and a little larger AND I'm not so sure about that ribbon at the top.

Feel free to comment on what you like or don't like. I'm always interested in feedback. You won't hurt my feelings, don't worry, like I said, its not my best work.

Scrap Idol - Week 3

I finished this LO at about 11 last night.

Hubs and I spent the weekend "deep" cleaning for Goose's birthday party. I don't know if we are brave or crazy for trying to have the party at our house... ask me in a week. So, I didn't really have any extra time to scrap until Sunday night. AND while I was scrapping, I dumpped a FULL glass of water all over my LO (at least it was before I put down the pics), that's why the paper is all wrinkly. I had to take my heat gun to it to dry it out.

Anyway, this is my Scrap Idol LO for this week. I feel like I'm a little premature posting, seeing as how its voting day today and I won't know the results until tomorrow (Cross your fingers for me!)

And some close ups:

And here is the sketch from Pencil Lines that we were supposed to follow. We also had to use 2 of the following techniques: distressing, stamping, sewing - hand or machine, paper tearing, paper piecing, and/or painting.

I used Jodie's LO as inspiration for this one. I love hers so much!

TFL! (And wish me luck!)

ETA - I made it on to week 4! YAY!

I live to scrap another day...

I made it through another week of Scrap Idol! Last week was an ad challenge and here is the ad we had to use for inspiration.

Photobucket

It didn't really matter HOW we were inspired by the add, as long as the finished LO bore some similarity to the ad.

Here is my finished LO... got it done at the retreat.

And some close ups.

This next weeks challenge is a little tougher. We have to do a sketch and several different techniques. Shouldn't be too much of a problem. Ya know, I do love a challenge!

A New LO - Scrap Idol Returns!

Some of my online scrap buddies have gotten together and we are having a contest between all of us (well, all of us that signed up) to find out who the "Scrap Idol" is. This is the second or third contest we have had.

I love a little competition. In fact, I thrive on it. I wouldn't call myself a perfectionist, I do like to win and I am very competitive. I like to be the best. Unfortunately, I'm not usually. I have a habit of being good at things but never great. Always, my whole life...

Anyway, this post is about a LO so we won't go down that road today.

This was the first week, so the challenge was pretty easy. Here are this weeks rules:

1) use at least 2 pics, no more than 3
2) use at least 2 patterened papers
3) use at least 1 cardstock
4) use ribbon
5) use at least 5 buttons
6) use ink

I've been wanting to scrap these pics for a while but I have a hard time with "boy-themed" pages. But I really like how this turned out! This was a Shanna sketch too!

Scrap Idol - Week 4

Our LO for week four could not be square and it had to be either red and yellow (my Varsity was my first attempt, then I got this idea...) or blue and orange.

The other day I bought Goose a Doodle Pro, and I was recycling the box, pulling out the plastic, because I;m a good little recycler like that and it occured to me that the plastic was about the same size as a LO, so I cut it into this flower shape and went to town!

Here is what I came up with!

Scrap Idol - Week Three

It was an ad challenge this week. I have to admit, I was really stumped! But I brought out my sketch book, actually drew a few sketches and same up with what I think is now my new favorite layout!!!

First, I have to share the ad and my sketches...
Photobucket

And here is my LO...
Photobucket

I printed the large pic on textured cardstock. I wanted it to have the look of canvas and hand drawn. I highlighed different areas by coloring over the pic in pencil and also colored in our toes. I would have like to have been able to just edit it in photoshop, but I don't have that on my computer so this was the next best thing.

Here is a close up of the title and you can also see part of the big pic in a little more detail.

TFL!!!

Scrap Idol - Week 2

PhotobucketHere is the LO I did for last week's Scrap Idol.

We had to use this sketch from Jodie. It wasn't a hard challenge b/c I just LOVED this sketch. It worked so well with my pictures. I did change it up a bit b/c I just had to use this adorable little bird by Nicole Lombardo

Scrap Idol

Well, I only placed 3rd in So You Think You Can Scrap. Sad, I know. I was hoping to take it all but not this time. But now there is a new contest called Scrap Idol! same concept, different hosts.

The first challenge was pretty simple, do a 2-pic LO. Easy enough. Picked up this new Creative Imaginations paper from the Squeaky Page and new exactly which pics I was going to scrap. As an added bonus I used a ton of swap stuff.

Here are some detailed pics!

Not sure who the journaling tag was made by, but it was also a swap item.
