Delicioso!!!

AWESOME BLOG CANDY!!!

Want some?
I got lots to send to one lucky person who can do these two little things for me...

  1. Become a loyal follower.  I KNOW you are already reading anyway... might as well accept me as your leader and follow blindly. (Bonus points if you are on Twitter and sign up to follow @GetBenderNow, read this post to see why...)
  2. Leave a comment telling me your favorite children's book and include a quote from the book.
This little give-away is inspired by my 6000+ visitor (and I know that I haven't hit "refresh" that many times!) and by the fact that I have WAY too much stuff and want to share the wealth.
And of course, Goose.  I told you before that we were reading "A Light in the Attic", well... we finished that and have now moved on to "Where the Sidewalk Ends."  I think this poem is particularly fitting for this give-away too.

Come In
If you are a dreamer,
come in.
If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,
a hoper, a prayer, a magic-bean-buyer.
If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire,
for we have some flax-golden tales to spin.
Come in!
Come in!

And of course, what you really want... pics of the loot!

I'm already a follower... but I don't do twitter. Just can't start another thing like that.

Favorite Children's book...I'm an elementary teacher, so it changes often. But currently it's The Important Book. it's real cute, you need to read it. I have 2 favorite parts...
"The important thing about a daisy is that it is white It is yellow in the middle, it has long white petals, and bees sit on it, it has a ticklist smell, it grows in green fields, and there are always lots of daisies. But the ipmortant thing about a daisy is that it is white."

and my second favorite part is when my students write their own poem about themselves in this manner. It's so sweet to see what things they think are important about themselves!

OK, I am a loyal follower! For sure! Not on twitter though. Seems like I need to be though. Everyone is!

My favorite children's book, well one of them, is The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn. Its about a little racoon who is starting school and he is very scared. His Momma teaches him about "The Kissing Hand" and it helps him adjust to school. It makes me cry every time I read it to my students on the first day of school because I can see the nervousness in their faces and I know its such a huge step for them and their Mommy's! My favorite quote is "Chester felt his mother's kiss rush from his hand, up his arm, and into his heart. Even his silk black mask tingled with a special warmth." I can only hope that I make my own girls feel this way! I have taught them the kissing hand!

Read it! It will pull at any momma's heart strings!

You KNOW i already an your twitter friend... Bender's too.

So, one of my fave childhood books is "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein.

"I wish that I could give you something... but I have nothing left. I am just an old stump..."
"I don't need very much now," said the boy, "just a quiet place to sit and rest. I am very tired.....
"Well, an old stump is good for sitting and resting. Come, boy, sit down and rest."
And the boy did.
And the tree was happy.

Hi there! I'm new to Twitter, but not so new to scrapbooking, or reading books to my boys! My favorite book is "Your Kind of Mommy" by Marjorie Blain Parker. It goes through different types of mommy animals and the special things they do with or for their babies. My favorite part is the end. It goes like this: "No-I'm not an octopus. I'm not a wallaby, but I'm your kind of mommy, and that's the best thing I could be!" Of all the things I do, work (I'm a nurse), hobbies (scrapbooking of course!!), my favorite thing to do/be is a mommy to my 3 beautiful boys!!!

I now am following you and GetBenderNow on Twitter and have bookmarked your page here so I can visit often.

My favorite book as a child was The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. One of my favorite quotes is "Aslan is a lion—the Lion, the great Lion." It was later in life that I realized there was meant to be a connection between Aslan and God. It was one of the first books that I ever really fell in love with.

I follow your blog and i love it, also i am on twitter (i am not sure why) aND i follow GetBenderNow, Now as far as my favorite childrens book. I have a lot of favorites, being I had a rough childhood and reading kept me sane. I remember being in second grade reading books all the time that put me in a different world than I lived in. But for my childeren that I read to them all the time is a book called Big sister Little Sister by marci curtis. My favorite quote from this book is Big sister shows me how to yell and cheer! "little sister, it's okay. I will dry your tear." I have three girls so I have to teach them about being sisters and this book have pictures of real sisters with the moms taking picture of their daughters doing acts of kindness to each other and being loving to each other. The pictures are matching what is being said in the words in the story.

I don't have twitter (unless you count the chirping 5, 3 and 1 year olds in my house!)but I'll enter as is and become your devoted sheep... erm, follower!

My absolute favourite book, which you MUST get, and is out of print but soooooo good, is Gyo Fujikawa's "Oh What A Busy Day". Her art work is amazing, and the "story" (which isn't really a story so much as a detailing of a day of play) is so imagination capturing... My 3 and 5 year olds love it now too. It was published in 1976, and you might find it on ebay... I got my well used copy there for 25 dollars... totally worth it. So many funny quotes in there... let's see... how about "oh mother dear, I sadly fear, my appetite is always here!" or "I'm a sandwich!" (says the boy lying between two pillows). Seriously, GET THIS BOOK. Toodles!

Already a follower! My favorite children's book is Goodnight Moon. All 3 of my kids had it memorized VERY early on. My favorite quote is "goodnight little house, and good night mouse"- this was hilarious to us because at our first house we had a family of mice who would not leave...

Hey! I have been following you for a while now on google reader and added blogger as well.

My favorite book is Goodnight, Sweet Butterflies. We used to read it to Sarah every single night before bed. DH and I had it completely memorized, so I can remember being at my parents house visiting, overnight, and not having the book but still being able to "read" it to Sarah. And it reminds me of the calmer days when we only had one little baby, instead of 2 big girls!

"Hush sweet butterflies, not another peep. It's time to find a place where you can go to sleep..."

And a close 2nd would be "Zoo Poo" b/c DH absolutely hates that one, so I love getting the girls to ask him to read it!!! lol...

I found your blog through TCB widget thingie. Glad I clicked and now I follow.
My favorite kids book is any Curious George Book. We have a collection of older stories in one edition and they all start out, "This is George. George is a good little monkey but very curious." This describes my boys to a "T". Good and curious.
