WIWT (and yesterday)

Wardrobe Remix today!!

First off, this is the sweater I wore yesterday.
So warm and cozy.
I bought it at a new consignment shop in town, Mandelin's.
I changed the buttons from a basic brown one to three gold vintage buttons.
Photobucket
Sweater: Mandelin's, >$10

And today at work...
I was going for a mono/duo-tone look.
We had depositions at the office so I had to look
"professional"

Dress: VV, $5
Tights: HUE, $10
Shoes: L.E.I., $20
Scarf: WM, $5
Earrings & Black "lava rock" bracelet: Silpada
"Other" bracelets: thrifted

And right now... I am lounging in THIS:
Photobucket
"Elsie" bow: Kelsy-made
Pantech Impact phone: AT&T
Hoodie: From my days as a competitive fastpitch player
GO ACE!

Like the "sticker" on my phone?
The back of it, the battery cover, kept popping off.
And it was getting really annoying.
So I printed/cut out these "cup-cake toppers" and made one of the mustaches into a "sticker" with tape.
Now its on my phone.
And the battery cover is securly taped in place.

I am a GENIUS!

PS - I am hereby committing to blog-land
that I fully intend to take pics of and list a ton of new stuff in
my Etsy store by February 1st!!!

Bug me!
Nag me!
Hold me to it!
Don't let me flake!

PUH-leeze!???

Craft Remission

Photobucket

So my plan today was to be lazy.
Just do nothing. I busted my butt yesterday cleaning and today I wanted to relax.

Last night we lost power and Goose woke up in the middle of the night scared so I brought her to bed with Hubs and I. Which means that I got no sleep. But Goose slept until almost 11!! I got up at 9, did some Wii Fit and went back to bed for a bit.

Then Goose got up and we watched cartoons. Well, she watched cartoons and I fell back asleep on the couch. I woke up around lunch time-ish, whenever that was. Made some lil smokies for lunch and then watched "Too Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar." Oh, its one of my favorite movies. Miss Vida Boehm, Noxema Jackson, and Chichi Rodriguez. Definately one of my top 5 favorite movies EVER!

Then I sorted Gooses clothes and got a big box of things that were too small. I'll either give it to a friend or donate it to Goodwill. Now her clothes fit in her dresser again. HA!

And that was the extent of what I did today.
And really, it was more than I wanted to do.
BUT, while digging though the GW box,
I found a couple pairs of maternity jeans I was going to get rid of.
I decided I could make better use of the fabric...

I chopped up one of the legs.
The flower I'll be showing you requires 5 petals cut as shown above.
(Mine are roughly 1in tall and 2in wide)
Size according to the size of your finished flower.

Stitch them together using a running/gathering stitch. Shape and secure petals in place. Add a center. I used beads on these flowers, but you can use buttons or earrings (ya know, the ones that have lost their mate) or glue rhinestones on them... whatever suits your fancy.

To finish the flower off, I cut a small heart out of felt and attached it to the back of my flower with fabric glue (hot glue would work too, or you could stitch it in place). Not only does this cover the stitching but it also adds a sturdy foundation if you chose to make a brooch or hair clip.

Photobucket

Personally, I just attach my blooms with a plain old safety pin. Then you can wear it like a brooch or attach it to a hair tie or bobby pin it in your hair. The safety pin goes through the felt much easier than the flower fabric which is al bunched and sewn.

I like adding blooms to hats.
It can completely change the WHOLE look!

(You may remember this hat from my last Wardrobe Remix post...)

And a few more styles:

Hope you like them!
I have "grown" quite the garden recently!
Oh, how I love fleurs!

Made it Cute

Nothing too terribly special.
Took my cheap/old/loved slippers from WM and gave them a mini face lift with some scrap black sweatshirt fabric, left over from a re-fashion.

Timely Advice to the Expectant Mother and other Fun Junk

Photobucket

I made my weekly trip to Fun Junk today. I totally love that store... even just the smell when you walk inside, it just smells old. Like the pages of an old book. Speeking of book pages... check this out. It's from a 1925 medical text!

Photobucket
Click the picture if you would like to view the complete page.

I seriously love this place. She didn't really have anything new, but I had my weekly $20 Fun Junk allowance burning a whole in my pocket. It's actually part of my craft buget, but I save so I have a little to spend here everyweek.

I bought a jar of buttons. A big ole canning jar full of lovely vintage buttons in every color. I've already bought one jar of her buttons and have spent alot of time trying to convince myself that I DID NOT need another jar of buttons... I'm sorry, but I'm weak and I just couldn't do it.

Photobucket
Sorry again for the crappy cell phone pic.

That's right... I bought them.

I can't wait to get home and dump them out and sort them. First I sort out the "extra pretty special buttons" and then I sort by color/type and then they go in bowls in my craft room. I keep them in bowls b/c I love the pretty colors and like to have them on display.

Seven more days 'till I can go back. ;)

Happy Friday!

A Mother's Day Gift!

I made these last night for a Mother's Day swap on the message board I visit. Each person is assigned a partner and you can alter them something and send them a small amount of scrap goodies or if you don't want to alter anything, you can just send a bunch of goodies. Well, I kinda did both! I love altered/embellished stuff but this time, I wanted to do something different. As cute as they are, a girl can only have so many paint cans or picture frames. So I decided to alter some flip flops. I've never done it before but a while back (like last summer), when I was at J's I saw a bottle of Flip Flip Glue near the check out stand (on sale $1.99) and thought "why the hell not!" Mainly, I bought it so I could alter some flip flops for myself, because the weather is warmer and I live for flip flops! But, I never got around to it and the glue ended up burried in the back of a drawer of crap.

My partner is pregnant though and lately has been complaining a lot about her swollen feet and how her feet don't fit in her tennis shoes very well anymore. She only has a few weeks left so I thought this would be a nice thing for her. I really hope they hold up. Like I said, this is the first time I have used this glue and I would hate for them to fall apart on her!

So anyway... what you really came to see... the pictures!!!

The ribbon came from Target and the buttons are from my stash. No idea where I got them or when. These shoes remind me of spring or rainbow sherbert and daquari ice mixed together, or maybe a sunset smoothie from Cold Stone Creamery. Yummy! I also sent her some pretty nail polish b/c you can't wear sandals without having pretty sparkling toes!!! She probably can't paint them herself, so hopefully her hubby will be a sport and give her a hand!

These were really easy to make and I love the way they turned out. She's lucky she wears a different size then I do b/c I really wanted to keep them for myself. So, I think I see a trip to Old Navy in the future to get a(nother) new pair to fix up! I should probably just use one of the 100's of pairs that I already own but... NAH! Besides, I only have a few pairs of the *new* style of ON flip flops. They changed them this year and they are much more comfy than before. Not that I minded the old ones they had, but these are definately better!

Hope all the mommy's out there have a great Mother's Day!
