Sums it up..

I've had a crappy week.

Hope yours has been better!

I have lots of blogging and Etsy updating to work on this weekend.
I could really use some sunshine and maybe a smoothie.

I've been trying to think more positively about things.
Last week was good. This week, not so much.

Baby steps!

On a happier note, I went to a friends baby shower last weekend.

And I made baby some headbands and clippies.
This new mama is one of my favorite people.
I've had a girl-crush on her since high school.

Her style is amazing!
Her attitude is inspiring!
She is one of the most naturally beautiful people I have ever met!
I can't wait to meet her baby when she's done baking!

Mission COMPLETION!

Photobucket

Finally finished the Custom Order I had on my plate. I had 2-4 weeks to complete it, and this week was my 4th week. I completely forgot to work on this at the retreat like I should have, but it's done and ready to ship and I really hope the mom likes it!

My First Custom Order!

PhotobucketPhotobucket

A while back the baby shower guestbook I made for a friends baby shower was featured on Tip Junkie. Well, a few weeks ago I was approached by a lady from Florida named Sherrie who wanted one for her sister's upcoming baby shower. So I put aside all those feelings of honor/flattery/perfection and got to work on my first custom order!!!

Photobucket

I couldn't find the same album I used, and I already had this acordian style album. I really liked the embossed finish on the other one, but I think the large Grunge Board alphas on the cover gives it alot of texture.

Photobucket

I took pics of all the pages last night and planned on posting them all here today, but I think I would rather Sherrie (and her sis) be surprised when they get it. This is the first time I have made something (for pay) for someone who has not been friend or family so I am a little nervous. I'm sure they will love it!

Photobucket

So I guess the moral of the story is (if there has to be a moral... and there does) is never underestimate the power of bloggers for word of mouth AND I am now open for custom orders.

I really love making these baby shower albums, so if you are or know anyone who is pregnant and want one for your shower, feel free to email me here or contact me via my Etsy store!

Guest Book

Photobucket This is gonna be a drive by posting, pics only. Not alot of talking. Kinda busy today. I was out sick from work for two days and now I am really behind. I should have posted this yesterday, but my toddler broke my brain when she refused to nap!

So... here are the pics!

This is the guest book for Erin's baby shower. Each of those little cards pull out and all of the guests wrote down their names, addresses and best parenting tip or advice. I then wrote what gifts they brought on the back of the cards so when she goes to send out thank you notes, she has all of the information right there at her fingertips.

I'm not going to list all of the product info except for the album. It is made by Prima Marketing. The cover is embossed and looks great when painted (which is what I did) two different colors. So so pretty. I bought it at the Squeaky Page. She got them in that day and only had 2 left so I had to snag one!

Altered Bucket

Photobucket This is one of the projects I did for the baby shower. I made two of them. One with Ashlyn's (the new baby) initials and then, because I liked them so much, I put Goose's initials on the other. Since I gave the one with the baby's initials to Erin, I only have Goose's, so thats the one that is pictured.

If you look back at my last post with the baby shower pics, you can see that I used the buckets as part of the decorations. I had one filled with pink Hershey's kisses and the other filled with buttercreme mints in pink wrappers that said "baby girl" on them. Erin loved it and said it will go in the nursery, which is going to be done in all pink and brown. I also made a banner with Ashlyn's initials (AMP) that will go in the nursery too, but I forgot to take pics of that.

When I gave Goose her bucket, after the shower, her eyes just lit up. She was so excited about it! She is becoming quite the girly girl these days, so in love with "sparklys" it makes her momma proud! As she examining the bucket, she saw the heart at the center of the flower and said "That's a heart. You love me mommy?" That little girl just melts my heart!!!

Anyway, here are the pics!

Baby Shower Pics

Not really in the mood for a super long post, but I do want to get some pictures up for you all to see. Here are the pictures from Erin's baby shower this weekend. It all turned out so cute and she loved it. Unfortunately, all I really got pictures of was the decorations. I was so busy the whole time that I didn't get to stop and take pictures.

The Cake Table

Prize bags and Favor Boxes

Inside the favor boxes was a handful of Jelly Belly's wrapped in pink tulle. The jelly beans were all pink and brown. I got them in the bulk section at Top Foods (or Haagen for some of you folks). The tulle was tied off with pink and brown yarn.

There will be more pics of the guest book to come in a future post!

And my favorite decoration...

The Punch Bowl!!!!
Photobucket

This was my favorite thing about the baby shower and according to some of the guests, it was theirs as well. I don't have a punch bowl. I also don't do a lot of entertaining so its a non issue, well, until the shower. I didn't have one, Erin didn't have one so I had to come up with something quick. Then I remembered this idea from the last shower I attended. One of the ladies there was talking about a shower she had been to in the past where they had used a baby bathtub as the punch bowl. So there it was, filed away in the depths of my brain, waiting for just this occasion. Isn't it cute?

And the Momma all of this fuss was about!
Photobucket

That's Erin, she's due July 21st, but if you ask her Dr. she probably isn't going to make it that long. She told me I did too much and I did. I really went all out. To be honest though, I don't have any other girl friends, she is really my closest friend. And I guess, it feels good to have someone to pamper. I guess I just wanted her to know how much her friendship means to me.

Erin is practically Steve's sister. Their dads grew up together, helped grow the family business, been totally involved in each others lives since they were kids. I remember the first time I ever called Steve on the phone, Erin was at his house (and in his bedroom!). I had no idea who she was and was totally heartbroken that the boy I was crushing on had a girl in his bedroom!! Oh how wrong I was about them!

Erin and I weren't always friends, especially in high school. But after graduation we lived together (with Steven and about 5-ish other people... we were 19 and it was a total party house! Oly Stubbies 4-EVR!) and we have been friends ever since. It hasn't always been sunshine and roses, but it is what it is.

Wow, didn't really intend to go into all that right now, but there you all go! Now, time to go post pics of the goodies I made for her!

Love,
Kelsy
