Going Green Challenge!

Photobucket

The Rules:
Only one sheet of new, un-cut paper.
As much scrap paper as you want.
2 swap items, can be disassembled.
Use the color green at least 3 times.
Use a non-scrapbooking item.
Only open packages.

Photobucket

My first swap item was the heart made by Kelly in the top left hand corner. I changed the color of the center heart and then brad and I also inked it. My second swap item was the journaling box by Kat. I changed the background CS and added the flower and ribbon. I also re-used her sun-shaped eyelet. And that, my friends, was not easy! LOL!

Photobucket

I love found items and love it even more when I am able to use them on my LO's. I found this adorable copper fawn at this junk shop near where I work called Fun Junk. They have the most random vintage stuff there. This little guy, and the copper heart have been in my collection for a while and I have been dying for a chance to get to use them. They probably aren't acid free or photo safe, but that has never really mattered much to me!

Photobucket

The title was done with Thickers but after I put them on, they were way too light, so I outlined them with a brown marker.
Photobucket

This tag is actually a Genuine Kids clothing tag off of a pair of jeans I bought for Goose the other day. It was a really nice, thick CB tag! So I covered it b/c I thought it would be a fitting thing for a "green" challenge!

SYTYCS - Week 4

This week was a name challenge. We had to take our name and use one product for each letter of our name. And that's not just one type of product, it was ONE piece of a certain product. We could use brand names, product type, basically, anything we wanted as long as it was part of our name. Oh yeah, and did I mention it has to be monotone too? No? Well, it has to be monotone too.

WTF! I have to admit, it took me by surprise and I was really pissed to have such a short name! 5 letters = 5 things on my LO. It took quite a while to actually wrap my brain around the whole mess.

So last night, I was scrapping in the kitchen, working on some stuff for Erin's baby shower (the Guest Book, it looks awesome! And I'll post pics of it, but not until after I give it to her. I don't think she checks/know about my blog, but just in case, I want it to be a surprise. Anyway.........) and all of a sudden, a light bulb went off in my brain. Everything I used on this LO was already right in front of my face. Once it dawned on me, it only took me about 5 min. to put this LO together.

My items were:
K - K&Co Glitter chipboard "G"
E - edge journaling paper
L - lace
S - stick pin
Y - yarn

And the LO!

Here are some detail pics.

3 people get eliminated this week. I really hope I'm not one of them. This challenge is a BLAST. I never would have done a LO like this if not for this challenge!

By the Numbers

This weeks challenge for SYTYCS was a "By the Numbers" challenge. We had to use the following items and only the following items:

1 PP - at least 75% of sheet
2 CS - at least 75% of each sheet
3 flowers
5 metal embellies
6 inches of visable ribbon
1 black pen

Um..... really? This was a REALLY hard challenge for me. I love to junk up my pages and add and add and add stuff until the page is really full and really heavy. But I couldn't do it this time. I did my best to make the most of the materials I had and actually came up with a LO that I LOVE. And it also seems that the first SYTYCS challenge is still fresh in my mind b/c I am still really diggin' on the black & white with color.

Photobucket

So there it is. Not too shabby, huh? I used this LO as a sort of base idea.

I cut a frame in the PP so I could make use of that paper that would have been covered by CS anyway. I then used that PP as my flower centers and as a journaling block. If you look carefully, you can see where I tried to journal on the pink CS but got a little carried away. It looked like crap and so I covered it.

Photobucket

I did a lot of doodling on this LO also. I doodled the flower stems and framed up the picture too. And of course the journaling. It reads "You were so very very beautfil, even from day number one." Its supposed to look like a heart.

12 Item Challenge LO

On one of the boards I am a part of, we are doing a multiple week contest. Its called "So You Think You Can Scrap?" Each week, you must complete a LO using that weeks challenge. Last weeks challenge was to do a black and white LO with just a small bit of color. This weeks challenge was to creat a LO using only 12 items. There were 2 ways to do it. The first was to count each piece as one item (one picture, one PP, one CS, one brad, etc.) The other was to count each type of item as one (CS, PP, picture, brads, stickers, etc.) I chose that way. I am not good at simplicity or white space. If you haven't noticed, my LO's tend to be quite busy and full! Here is the LO I created.

And some close up pics.

A Contest LO

It was really nice this weekend so we spent a lot of time out side. I got some really nice pictures of Goose and Steve playing in the field behind our house. It was full of dandelions this weekend and I thought that would make an awesome photo shoot. And it did! And I already scrapped it!

This LO was for a contest on a board I visit. The challenge was to use only black and white with no more than 14 elements of ONE color.

Photobucket

I printed the large picture on textured cardstock to give it a more aged and distressed look.

And this paper, OMG this paper is amazing! I had to go to M's to get some cards to finish (or start...) the invitations I am making for Erin's baby shower and did some extra browsing and found this amazing paper pack by SEI. It is their wonderful Black Orchid line. The colors are to die for. Black and White, with Turquoise, Coral and Lime Green! There are lots of big hibiscus flowers and it is all EMBOSSED!
