Fit for a Princess
We finally got Goose a bed this weekend.
A princess bed of her very own.
She has been sleeping on a mattress on the floor... for months.
For her birthday in March, my mother in law wanted to get her a big girl bed.
We couldn't find time to go shopping and in April, we decided to move.
So, we told her we would just wait until we moved into the new house to get her a bed.
She still had her toddler bed anyway.
Then, our house burned down.

Her toddler bed and mattress were still at the old house.
But we were thankful that we didn't ever get around to getting her a new bed.
But unfortunately, it wasn't our #1 priority anymore.
We had to restock the kitchen.
And bathroom.
And buy a new vacuum.
So we just kept putting it off.
Goose never got her bed.
This weekend we decided ENOUGH is ENOUGH!
Our girl needs, nay, deserves, to have a bed of her own.
Hubs wanted to get a bunk bed or a trundle.
I wanted a day bed.
Something cute and girly.
And lucky for us (Goose, my MIL and I)
Hubs wasn't shopping with us.
So we got her something SUPER girly!
He wasn't too thrilled, but its not his bed.
It's Goose's bed.
And she loves it!
She can't wait to get curtains to hang from the canopy.
So she can have "privacy."
Her words, not mine.
She spent a good hour last night making her bed.
And arrainging her babies.
It was definately worth the wait.
Bed found here.
It was only $399 in store!

I wanted to say "hello" from Lake Chelan.
Here is my family, un-washed, un-brushed and completely HAPPY!
I've been taking tons of pictires and have lots to share with you all next week.

Its Not So Bad Afterall
I feel so lucky for everything in my life right now.
And for the first time in a really long time
I feel like I am truly and genuinely
HAPPY.
Of course, let me say that right now we are in a tougher spot financially than we have ever been. With the move and the fire and the cost to "rebuild" our lives; its been really really tough. We are struggling.
But I'm not worried. Because I am confident we are doing exactly what we are supposed to be doing. My health is improving, I think its been over a month since I had a major panic attack WHOO HOO! New meds, new environment, new outlook on life.
I feel good.
I know this rough patch is temporary. We are saving so much money! Living on this side of town, Steve is able to bike and ride the bus to work. We cut our gas bill in half. No more furnace. Water, sewer, and garbage included. A smaller yard. Family activities within walking distance. It just all feels better. And with no computer, that means no paying for Internet, X-box live and Netflix. Although, I really miss Netflix!!!
Am I stressed? Yup.
Am I sad? Sometimes more, sometimes less.
As I unpack what we did get out, I feel overcome by happiness. Each box contains something I thought was lost forever. In each box a little miracle. But as the boxes dwindle, I am faced with the realization that there is so much we still do not have. Each box is a reminder of what was destroyed. As the number of boxes grow smaller, so do the little miracles. The treasures.
This weekend I found a box of Goose's coats that I thought were all left at the old house. And as I unpacked her boxes, I remembered her coat rack was still mounted to the wall outside her bedroom, with coats and pictures still on it.
I went through my scrapbooks and cried.
I remembered all of the large professional portraits we never had framed. They were still "safely" in their envelopes in my old craft room. Saw remnants of Molly on nearly every page... a solitary hair clinging between the pages. I didn't wipe them away.
Hubs told me he felt the same way about the smell of our couch.
Musty old dog. Yum.
Okay, not really, but still Molly.
I had her first and last collar saved in my bedroom.
But they weren't "saved"
It kills me to think she is still at that old house, all alone.
But I have her leash. And some chew toys.
And a few stray hairs.
And a stinky couch..
It's quite a contradicting life I am living right now.
So happy and peaceful and yet so sad and stressful at the same time.
It's somewhat of a balancing act, but this time I'm not afraid to fall.
I'm not scared to be sad.
The stressful feeling isn't overwhelming.
I feel like I am dealing, transitioning, re-establishing who I really want to be.
Who I really AM.
I am setting some big goals.
And for the first time (in a really long time)
I feel like I'm going to complete them.
And not just that...
I am going to blow every one out of the water.

First Weekend at HOME
The neighborhood we moved to is lovely.
Everyone has beautiful yards and well manicured gardens.
(Well, except for one house. And there is always one...)
And everyone picks up after their dogs.
Awesome.
There are two parks within walking distance.
With toys to play on...
And trees to climb.
Everything is in walking distance.
Parks, food, the mall, the movie theater, JoAnn's...
It was the first nice weekend - Saturday, at least - all year.
So I wore my Bleubird Vintage dress.
I was probably overdressed for the park
but
I really didn't care.
It was finally nice enough to wear the dress w/o a sweater and tights.
I even wore sandals!!
I confess, I took flowers from someones yard.
But in my defense, the house is vacant and for rent.
Goose and I explored the home a bit (it was BEAUTIFUL!)
And in the back yard there was a bush of these beautiful fragrant flowers.
I had to have some for my table.
My whole kitchen smells wonderful.
And Goose made a friend.
A little girl named Taylor who lives a few houses down.
They were fast friends and played for about an hour upon meeting.
And Taylor's parents were super nice and friendly too.
To borrow a line from Annie...
I think I'm gonna like it here.
ETA- Oh, and it turns out that Katrina and Dave, Taylors parents, are from the side of town we just moved from. It happens that Dave's cousin was the one who called 911 when our house was burning.
Got another
"THAT WAS YOU???"
Haha, yup.
Small world, huh?

WIWT- Ode to Keiko Lynn
I had a whole post planned
and I was gonna gush all things Keiko Lynn
'cuz her style is AH-mazing and my outfit today
totally reminds me of something she would wear.
The outfit is from Fun Junk and (except the tights) completely thrifted.
The shoes came from VV.
The skirt and pink top are handmade and the sweater has lovely lace embellishments.
BUT
Now, as I sit down to write I am lacking motivation.
I had a... challenging (is that the right word?) day.
BUT
I did take the pictures, so I may as well post them.
Throw in a skinny blue belt and vintage Dooney&Burke from my mom...
All in all, $30 (or less) for the entire outfit.
And all "vintage."
Not too shabby I say!

A Fort Fit for King Max
I've been inspired lately.
Both crafty wise (still no scrapbooking... still jaded) and just in general. Goose and I, okay, I built a fort today. I actually surprised Goose with it. She wasn't really paying attention to me; she was too busy watching "Getchter Gadget" (Inspector Gadget on Netflix.)
A fort worthy of King Max and the Wild Things!
