Quite a Pair - Of Chairs!

Have you ever wondered WHO actually picks up the crap people leave on the side of the road with a "FREE" sign?
Yeah, well, I am one of those people.
And in our neighborhood, people do it all the time. And sometimes its pretty nice stuff.

On the very day I saw this tutorial on Elsie's blog, I found a chair on the side of the road.
It was equally as sad as the one pictured, but I didn't draw a smiley face on mine.

I patched the hole with duct tape and dissassembled the chair, which was pretty easy since the directions are printed on the underside of the seat.  Unfortuately, the top of the chair wouldn't come off, the screws were rusty and bent, so I just covered it with a plastic bag.

Then I painted it with Krylon in a nice aqua blue. My plan was to make it opposite of this chair, so both Goose and I can have a seat in my craft room.

I found this rusty red cotton fabric at JoAnn's. It's the same kind of fabric I used for the first chair, only a different color. The reds aren't quite the same shade, but I like the way they look together. I used my glue gun to attach the fabric to the chair. I carefully folded the fabric and glued it in place.

The pillows are from Dollar Tree.  With some left over fabric, I sewed a few rosette flowers and attached them with my glue gun.  I don't know where they will end up, but I thought they looked cute in the pictures.
Thanks for looking!

Crafty Cure for Boredom

It's crafty Tuesday, except on Thursday!
ENJOY!

Felt magnets? On the fridge? Awesome!
I want butterflies. Like... tonight!

Refrigerator Facelift

I have a hutch that I have been planning on making over for a long time.  I really like how she removed the doors on this. I might have to steal the idea!

Hutch Make-Over

*WANT* I've always wanted to do this.  I think it would be awesome in a kids room.  I was planning on doing this to Goose's bedroom door anyway!

DIY Crackle Paint Tutorial

I think I have this table.  I totally love this.  I wasn't planning on re-paint my table, I kinda like the dumpy chipped blue paint it already has, but this is way cute!

Table Re-Vamp

Lost most of my craft storage (and buttons, and paint and glitter and...) but this idea is super cute!
Once I build up my stash again, I might have to do this.

Anthro-inspired Wreath

Love this chair! I have several chairs on my re-do list for the summer, so this tutorial will most likely come in handy!! In fact, my first project is going to be fixing the RED CHAIR for Goose's room.

Tutorials - Housewares Continued

It's Tuesday again.
And I have more tutorials to share.
I've been on the hunt and saving links all week.
Ready for more housewares?

Check out this BEAUTIFUL table runner!
I knew I was collecting doily's for a reason.
I think this could also be cute with vintage hankies too!
None-the-less... I need to make one!!!

Summer To-Do List

I just "inherited" some new bedroom furniture that is in need of a makeover.
I think this technique would look wonderful.
But... I'll probably go with white.

End Table Make-Over

Goose is GOING to have one of these hanging in her room by the end of summer.
I am on a mission.
Gonna give my baby a big girl room.
And it all started with a red vintage chair...

HowDoesShe - Seed Paper Flowers

Okay, so these aren't the "seed" flowers, but they are made the same way.
I used coffee filters. They are flexible, pliable when wet, and still durable.
For the seed flowers I made, I made the flowers first, then painted them with the flour paste, like the tutorial instructs. Then, I sprinkled the seeds on.

They were so pretty I made this set of "un-seeded" flowers for my office.

And the vase... from Dollar Tree.
It's actually a decorative reed diffuser, sold without the oil.

The sunflowers were a little gift to myself, from Trader Joe's.

Yeah, I buy myself flowers for my office.
Aren't they SO pretty?

Easy Cardigan RE-fashion

I got this sweater in the men's department at Value Village.

It was $5 or $6, definately under $10, I don't remember.
It was missing some buttons and had a cheezy Izod logo on it.
I replaced the buttons with these skully buttons I found at the Dollar Tree of all places.
And then I added the iron-on decal from JoAnn's.
Another three bucks.

So, for about $10-ish,
I was able to convert an un-loved cardigan into
this stylish masterpiece.
"Boyfriend" sweaters are all the rage, aren't they?

Today, I'm wearing it over a thrifted white button up and
a corderoy pencil skirt.
Black pinstripe tights and sky high black heels to finish the look.

My mom called me "preppy" this morning.
You tell me, are skull buttons preppy?
I wasn't really going for that.

Meh, I like it!

And this is what I wore yesterday.
My dress from Lulu's finally came last week!
It was backordered for-ev-r!
