About Us - Autumn Edition

We know how to have fun.

We like to make jokes.
About chocolate cake.

Sometimes, we act like monkeys!
Photobucket

But we always love each other!

Fall is the perfect time of year to get outside and explore your community.
We are blessed to have dozens of parks in our small town.
Every year, we make a point to explore our enviornment and learn about nature.

I like to hunt for mushrooms.
I like to smell the damp air.
I like to feel the mud squish under my boots.
I love to hear Goose laugh as she jumps in puddles.
I love the Pacific Northwest and I love FALL!

Do you have any special fall activities for your family?

Playing at the Park

There was a brief break in the rain, so the whole family bundled up and went to the park and walked the beach.  Yes, it was cold, very cold.  And windy.  But it felt great to get outside and be able to run around and jump in puddles.  As much as Goose needs time outside to get her willies out, I forget how much being outside restores my inner child.

Halloween!!

I actually have more than two pics to post BUT my memory card is seriously failing me right now and won't let me upload anything, so, I'm gonna have to add those pics later. I thought I would at least share these two right now, since I know you are all dying to know what exactly an Angel Pig looks like.

Trick or Treat!

Pick of the Patch

I know I said I'd post these like a week ago, but remember the crud Goose caught? Well, she decided to share. Laid me out for like a week. No joke, we got back from the patch at 5 and by 7 I felt like I'd been hit by a truck... pretty much till the next Friday. Sucked. But now the house is healthy and I can post some over due picks.

Wild Things Wednesday

It's fall. The colors are so pretty. Apples are ripe off the tree. Gentle cool breezes and biting crisp air. Yes, fall. The time of year where its dark when you leave for work and dark when you get home. Okay, so I don't like that part so much. But everything else about fall I love. The colors, Halloween, driving on sunny days with the windows rolled down and the heat turned to high.

And being fall, its mushroom season in the Northwest. I love mushrooms. Not eating them, no, thats disgusting (unless they are stuffed mushrooms from Olive Garden or Red Lobster, yummy!) but taking pictures of them. I don't know why, but they have this ugly beauty about them. Wabi-sabi, as Bobby Hill would say.

Wardrobe Re-Mix

Yes, it's after Labor Day.

And Yes, I am wearing white.
And Yes, I make it look good!
It's all in the accessories, ladies!

I'm rocking the jeans-tucked-into-boots look today. Love it. And I think I finally discovered a trick. I've never been able to tuck my jeans into my boots. No matter how I fold, roll, nope, too fat. So, I tucked my pants into my socks. GENIUS! Now they fit into my boots. Duh! Don't let the brown hair fool you, my roots (aka my mom) are blonde!

Finally Fall!

Throw on a cozy coat and some warm socks under your boots and get ready to brave the wonderfully wet Northwest Autumn!

Cold sunshine, falling leaves, mud puddles, Halloween...

Pumpkins

I love carving pumpkins. I don't have the patience for it though. In the beginning I feel ambitious and set out to carve something fancy-schmancy but it never really works out that way. I just carve in some simple goofy grin.

Photobucket

Goose didn't really know what to think. She was more interested in her sucker. Hubs and I were able to get her to dig in after we'd done it though. She was a champ at picking out the seeds for roasting. Yummy! No pics of seed roasting, but I assure you, they were delicious. Recipe was courtesy of Martha.

In a brief moment of clarity and general okay-ness, Goose and I decorated our front porch a bit. We don't live in a neighborhood and got NO trick-or-treaters, but I so love to decorate for Halloween and I wish I had been feeling better (ie anxiety/panic) so that I could have. Shit, the day before Halloween I dropped $50 at the grocery store to make miniature caramel apples and I was too sick to make them. BUT my mom did make them for me and took them to my sisters' Halloween party and they were a hit, so at least they didn't go to waste. I was even going to dress up like Amy Winehouse and it was gonna be the SHIT!

Anyway, sorry for the tangent. Back to the minuscule decorating I did.
Photobucket

I got the idea for the pumpkins with noses from Martha again. They were so cute and I had planned to do more (thus the uncarved pumpkins.) My favorite part was the way the noses wilted by the time Halloween came. Reminds me of several very dirty jokes which I will not share here. He he he.

Photobucket

Cute though right? Next year I vow to have an entire army of carrot-nosed pumpkins!

Oh... and just in case there was any doubt in your minds....

Hunter's Farm

Another October brings another trip to the pumpkin patch. Oh how I love the pumpkin patch, especially when it's sunny and not raining. This is our third year visiting Hunter's so I guess that makes it a traditions. They have hay rides, a train ride, merry go round, a GINOURMOUS slide, over priced-under cooked food, a petting zoo... everything a kid would LOVE, and of course Goose was no different.

Her favorite parts were the llamas and goats. They had grain you could buy and the goats would happily slurp them, tounges snaking around your fingers, not missing a drop.

Also, the slide. The slide which you had to be 3 or older to go down alone. Miss Goose was not happy about that, especially when I told her she was too little. "I AM NOT LITTLE, I am BIG" she exclaimed to me. So we snuck up the slide together and I would go down first, so I could catch her (she insisted) and she would go down next. But honestly, I don't think the attendant would have cared, she was a teen aged girl with head phones on (safety first of course), and she wasn't even taking tickets for the ride.

The Train Ride. She loved it but Momma was a little worried b/c she was all alone and I couldn't see the entire route she rode on. She survived though.
Photobucket

She was terrified to go on the Merry Go Round alone so I had to go with you. Let me tell you, that thing is 100+ years old and not meant to hold anyone over 50lbs. I was scared. This thing was so old it didn't even have a motor, just some guy pushing pedals like on a bike! Very cute and nostalgic and vintagy though!

On the trackor ride to the patch. Goose was so scared when they dropped us off. She burst into tears and started yelling "COME BACK!" Poor thing thought they were leaving us for good!

Thinking they left her. SO SAD!

My camera doesn't do too well in low light, but with a little photobucket editing (LOVE it, SERIOUSLY!)I was able to make thse two somewhen presentable. My trick is adding a vignette, it makes almost any picture look better. Ha ha ha!
